Intro to Kayaking Class (Outdoor Session)

    Saturday, June 2, 2018
    9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Are you interested in learning to kayak? Have you tried it and found it hard to go straight or turn when you want to? This is a fun, 4 hour introduction to recreational kayaking taught by experienced and qualified instructors. The class will be held at Alum Creek State Park.

Instruction will cover properly fitting your life jacket and a bit about types of kayaks.

You will get a chance to learn paddle strokes to help you turn or go straight and have plenty of time to practice as we paddle around Alum Creek Lake.

You will learn how to paddle on lakes, ponds, and reservoirs.

    Cost: $40.00/Members - $50.00/Non-Members

The cost of the class includes use of COP kayaks, paddles, and life jackets.  If you have your own kayak and equipment that you would like to use for the class, you are welcome to do that.  If you will be using your own equipment, please indicate that on the registration form.

    Registration deadline: May 27, 2018

This course is part of a series of kayaking courses from COP.  The series includes:
    •  Introduction to Kayaking (Indoor Session) – in March
    •  Introduction to Whitewater – in April
    •  Introduction to Moving Water – in May and June
    •  Introduction to Kayaking (Outdoor Session) – in June, July, and August

Take this course (Introduction to Kayaking (Outdoor Session)) if you have little or no experience kayaking.  After this course you are ready to paddle with friends or on COP trips on Central Ohio lakes, and you should be ready to take the Introduction to Moving Water if you are interested in taking that next.
